Development Director and Coach

IntegrateNYC has grown significantly and we are seeking an organized, well-connected (or established) and enthusiastic partner in designing, managing, and improving our fundraising strategy so our team can make the most impact possible.

  • Because we are an intergenerational organization focused on transformative youth development, the Development Director and Youth Development Coach will partner with student leaders to execute their role, coach youth in developing their skills and sense of power, and collaborate with an intergenerational team (ages 13+).

  • Most work for this position can be completed remotely; with the understanding that the organization is working toward moving in a hybrid model for most of FY23 (August 2022 through June 2023). Candidate must be based in New York.

  • Part Time (20-25 hours per week).

    Candidates must be available to work weekday afternoons/evenings: 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

  • $32.19/hour; optional 401k; professional development funds; no health insurance coverage at this time

  • Fundraising Strategy and Growth Planning

    Lead prospecting and identifying and cultivating new fundraising streams, including cultivating individual donors, corporate giving, and foundation grants to diversify our current streams of revenue

    Ability to create and implement an annual fundraising plan that meets our current fiscal year budget needs, to be sustainable for multiple years, and grows our safety net

    Individual and Corporate Donors

    Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors; grow monthly donor program

    Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors and corporate funders; develop a donor cultivation strategy for each with calendar of touchpoints

    Support annual fall/winter event and appeal; guided by development plan, create fundraising strategy and support event logistics for other events and appeals throughout the year

    Grant writing and proposals

    In collaboration with the Executive Team, draft, edit, and submit grant proposals and annual reports to weave together relevant content

    Research grant opportunities and manage annual grants calendar (including new and renewal funding)

    Support organization to clearly message work to different funding audiences; co-write grant proposals and reports with INYC student executives

    Support team to prepare for fundraising strategy development and ensure they are prepared for donor calls and site visits

    Development Systems and Processes

    Main voice in communicating and interfacing with external donors and internal staff as it relates to campaigns, cultivation asks, and administrative follow-up in a timely manner

    Staying on top of fundraising trends within the nonprofit community and maintaining fundraising collateral

    Coaching

    Support the youth interns to set objectives, plan future tasks, evaluate outcomes, and engage in ongoing reflection

    Train and support INYC youth leaders to evaluate organization’s fit with grant and funding opportunities and prepare to present during donor meetings

    Foster innovative strategies with an asset-based, equity-minded, and relationship-centered approach to goal-setting and holistic growth on a team with a wide range of ages and abilities

  • Attend mandatory training and program and team meetings

    Take advantage of professional development funds and seek capacity building opportunities to strengthen coaching competencies

    Spend time independently researching, reading, and learning about new concepts to bring to the team

You understand the power of grassroots organizing as a mechanism for change and will bring that energy to the ways you relationships and execute your responsibilities.

Candidates who move on to the next step will meet with the hiring manager (or member of the hiring committee) for an initial phone screen. Following the phone screen, candidates who are invited to the next phase will meet an intergenerational group of our team for a “Meeterview” - a meeting meets interview - where we will get to know each other better. Final offers will be made after all eligible candidates have completed their Meeterview.
