Adult Coach Application

An Adult Coach must be a dynamic educator and organizer who is able to empower youth through political education and base building strategies while advancing IntegrateNYC’s mission: to develop youth leaders who repair the harms of segregation and build authentic integration and equity.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis

Pay: $40 per hour, 6-10 hours per week

Period: Late January 2023 to June 2024

 
 
  • Support our youth directors as they mount their campaign this year, to build a citywide youth leader network to demand REAL student decision making power within DOE governance to deliver REAL school integration.

  • Attending in-person team meetings Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30 to 6:30 PM.

    Providing coaching to IntegrateNYC youth staff,

    Working with the organization’s leadership team to guide, support, and facilitate youth-led advocacy, campaigns, workshops, and events.

    Developing and delivering youth leadership- and skill-building trainings and workshops.

    Building program curriculum and schedule with the Adult Program Director

    Accurate record keeping of all required data points essential for reflection and reporting.

  • This position is based in New York, NY, and expected to report in-person. This is a hybrid position with a mix of remote and in person work.


  • Design curriculum (lesson plans and activities for both virtual and in-person settings) and collaborate with Coaches and Program Directors to co-facilitate sessions

    Prepare and attend opportunities for youth as a coach (i.e. panels, rallies, meetings with policy makers, etc.) 

    Plan and/or participating in coalition / partner meetings as a support to youth 

    Assist youth in personal development and growth in individual coaching sessions; be available to provide emotional support, guidance, and advice to youth during scheduled coaching sessions

    Connect with NYC educators to expand partnerships and base building

    Communicate With INYC leadership regarding youth needing conflict resolution, crisis intervention or experiencing emotional distress.

    Maintain appropriate communication (email, slack, or verbal communication) with team 

  • Attend mandatory training and program and team meetings

    Take advantage of professional development funds and seek capacity building opportunities to strengthen coaching competencies

    Spend time independently researching, reading, and learning about new concepts to bring to the team

    Lead at least one internal Coaches Professional Development opportunity per semester

  • Support with data collection of program-based surveys and individual growth assessments.

    Track weekly attendance and maintain program roster.

    Complete weekly online timecard by required deadlines.

  • Deep understanding of youth development, generous listening and relationship building

    Dedication to educational equity, anti-racism, and anti-oppression, including familiarity or experience with: NYC educational system; trauma informed practices; transformative/restorative/healing justice; disability justice; dismantling the patriarchy; queer liberation; immigrant rights; capitalism and imperialism analysis

You understand the power of grassroots organizing as a mechanism for change and will bring that energy to the ways you build relationships and execute your responsibilities. You are ready to combine your fundraising skills with a insightful to look at new prospects, go after opportunities with confidence, and utilize our resources in a strategic way.

Candidates who move on to the next step will meet with the hiring manager (or member of the hiring committee) for an initial phone screen. Following the phone screen, candidates who are invited to the next phase will meet an intergenerational group of our team for a “Meeterview” - a meeting meets interview - where we will get to know each other better. Final offers will be made after all eligible candidates have completed their Meeterview.
