Youth Council Kick Off

On Friday, October 11th, we held our first Youth Council of the academic year! Students from all five boroughs joined us in at The People’s Forum. We started with introductions, introduced ourselves as a team as well as our mission and the presented the 5Rs: Race and Enrollment, Resources, Relationships, Restorative Justice, and Representation of School Faculty. Afterwards we broke off into groups for an icebreaker. For the icebreaker we competed to make the tallest spaghetti and yarn towers - but the catch was that team members were not allowed to talk, mouth, write or sign to each other. Then we separated off into groups to work on one of the following topics: Move the Mayor, Build our Schools, or Youth Power.
