November 1st Youth Council Team Meeting

On Friday, November 1st, we held our second Youth Council of the academic year at Essex Street Academy. The objective of this youth council was to create our ideal school based on the 5 R’s. First the team introduced themselves. Afterwards we played ultimate rock, paper, scissors. After many rounds the winner of ultimate rock paper scissors was Obrian. Congratulations Obrian! Then we split into groups and asked each group to create the ideal school and day in the life using materials provided. We asked them to think about the physical characteristics, content of classes, experiences in and around school. At the end each group ended up creating a visual representation of their ideal school and a Day in the Life of the students at the school. In addition to this activity we then asked everyone to reflect what they would like to change about their schools and what is important to them about their school environment. Next we explained what the five R’s were and connected them to our experiences.
